Here in NYC we have had some beautiful nice warm weather indicating Spring is here, but we also still have that cold winter air trying to stay around, in fact it actually snowed a little on the first day of spring. Well all in all spring is here and after spring comes summer. Like a lot of people, I want to enjoy the good weather with out stressing over body issues that I can change and feeling comfortable in the cute summer dresses and shorts. My goals for the spring and summer is to continue to get my butt in shape. Most people make this goal of getting in shape and working out during the winter months, so their end results will be great for when the big coats and layered clothing come off, but my winter was spent writing my book, tending to getting my home in order and also dealing with a family death, so all that lead to over eating and snacking, very bad choices and the results were that I gained a little more weight.
So now it’s time to get back on track and to be serious about eating better and daily exercising, I’ve done it before so I know I can do in again. The older you get the more harder it is to shed the unnecessary weight off, though my goal isn’t about losing pounds but more of toning up and lifting my butt. I started going to the gym with my daughters because they are my motivators, my oldest daughter is a black belt in Martial Arts and my other daughter loves to workout, so I’m in good company to get fit. We go to the gym maybe 4 times a week (sometimes twice in a day), I must admit the gym for me is very addictive, we do cardio and weight training on the variety of machines as well as floor routines at our local gym which is Blink Fitness, I really like this gym because it’s very clean, the crowd there are focused on their results and the staff are friendly. My food in take is coming along good but I will talk more about the things I eat in a separate “GETTING FIT” post devoted to learning good eating habits.
The importance of getting in shape depends on the person and how bad they want to live and enjoy a full healthy life. We have to learn in order for that to happen we must take care of our bodies from the inside out, we must watch our intake on certain foods and stay away from the foods and drinks we know are bad for us, yes we can have those days when we may want McDonald’s and it’s cool in moderation but it’s a better choice to opt for something more healthier. We have to create good healthy habits and disconnect from the bad ones and once that’s accomplished we would not desire to eat unhealthy foods and working out will be second nature.
This journey for me is a great one because I want to be around for a long time and I want you to be around too. My next “GETTING IN SHAPE” POST will be on the different exercises I do at the gym as well as the machines I use, so stay tune.
Let me know in the comments, What are some of your favorite healthy snacks? and maybe I’ll try some of them out.
Be good, Stay positive and one love BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ❤
